Rocky Mountain National Park - Fall River - Endovalley picnic area

Weather this weekend looks that it might give up to two feet of snow to elevations above 9000 feet. I've been itching to take the day off but as work rolled in my plans were changed - though a desire to visit the park to see conditions stayed on my mind. At 3:30pm I was done with office tasks so I headed up via Glen Haven. The road construction (repair work) between Drake and Glen Haven is still in full swing.

On a rainy, dreary afternoon few people are out. Traffic is quite rare which is enjoyable. The gate at the US-34 entrance to the park is not staffed so entry is no cost. I rambled west up Endovalley with elk in the meadow, past the alluvial fan from the 1982 flood, and into the picnic area at the west end (Old Fall River Road is gated for the season).

Fall River abuts the picnic sites on one side of the picnic area (the preferred sites) so I stopped for a look.
