Today we'll stay at the lake. I made the red line trek to the overlook
at the west side of the lake (and back). |
Clear mountain water - snowmelt |
At the southern end of the campsites was a
nice site - next time... |
It didn't offer wide lake views but it did
have bubbling water sounds. |

Trekking to the overlook |
A nice climb - easy in the dry |
at the top were some steps that caused issue
for some. |
A
spot where a differential lock is great to have. This was long enough,
and uphill enough, that getting a running start for enough momentum
wasn't desirable. Flip the switch and the left side tires on solid
ground will push the jeep up - right side tires not getting much
traction from the snow. |

Snowball toss in July?! My toss was nowhere near strong enough to see a splash in the lake. |
Looking at where the trail continues. Some day
perhaps. For now I'll turn back. |

Down
in the valley there's a trail intersection. We'll take the right though
some day I could see trying the left path to get back out / to the east. |
The exposed rock lends for a bumpy ride. |
Much of it looks like discarded concrete. |

We did see some fish jumping in the lake. With the other campers gone, the place was quiet. One of the eight-year-old boys in us said to the other "I have an idea". With a hearty chuckle from both the plan was put into motion. If you care to share in an idea of an eight year old, read on. |
