19 January 2002 - Saturday Morning
-
Loud noise heard outside (noticed the time on the clock - 2:09 AM)
-
Looked outside to see two vehicles (possibly dark in color) heading East
on Old Gate Road
-
The first was just about to turn South onto 35th Street
-
The second followed
-
The second vehicle seemed to be 'straight / normal' in the street and did
not seem to be returning to the street from the lawn
-
Mailbox was in the street
-
Mailbox post was pushed over in the Eastwardly direction
-
Paint scrapes on the West side of the maibox post
-
Vehicle parts - shown in the pictures - were collected from the driveway
and lawn area
-
I drove West from my house on Old Gate looking for a house that may have
a party / guests leaving - none found
-
Noticed about 3 houses West - on the North side of the street - vehicle
tracks leaving the street - up onto the lawn & sidewalk and onto the
driveway - making a left U-Turn back onto Old Gate heading East
-
Disturbed snow from the lawn to driveway and tire / snow marks onto the
driveway look like the vehicle was heading West when it went onto the lawn
and driveway
This is a recurring issue. About two weeks ago the neighbors just
to my West had their mailbox run over (no snow / vehicle marks).
Last season (or perhaps the winter before that) I had my mailbox hit in
the exact same fashion (same direction, same up on the lawn and back to
the street tire marks). Purchase records show a 12-14-99 plastic
maibox purchase. I can't recall if this is the third time my mailbox
has been taken out or just the second.

Bent mailbox post visible inside of the left tire track before the
driveway
Mailbox and vehicle parts collected. The front row of parts are
painted and there is also a piece of orange turn signal lens.
