Yosemite National Park.  Firefall at Curry Villiage.  Cascading in the darkness, red fir bark embers pushed over the face of Glacier Point gave the illusion of a flaming waterfall.  Heavy traffic and meadow trampling led to the discontinuation of this nightly event.  The Firefall had become a distraction from the threat to the natural beauty of Yosemite.  The last Firefall occurred in January 1968.
