Two items on the schedule for the weekend - 4x4 group trail cleanup and
to check out Adams Lake for camping. Saturday was a quick trip to Idaho Springs to meet the group for trail cleanup. I ended up on Barbour Fork. It was fairly clean so the cleanup went quick. Out from the trail I jumped onto I-70 westbound right when the rain clouds opened with a very heavy rainfall. Traffic was rolling but slowly. The rain lasted only a few miles and we popped out to blue sky and dry roadway before Georgetown. Traffic for the eastbound folks was at a near standstill for miles. I'm glad I had open road. `last gas stop is Gypsum |

Documenting trail signage - is there damage? |
The light marks on the hillside is refuse from
mining operations. |
A bit closer view of the mines. |
Out on I-70 westbound. Out from the heavy
rain. Near standstill for eastbound traffic rolling into the rain. |
Nearing the tunnel |
Out
from the tunnel and heading down the long steep slope. Most cars are
coasting, downshifting, or on the brakes. The aerodynamic brick that is
the jeep has me still on the gas, lightly, to go downhill. |
Off of the freeway. Off of asphalt. Airing down the tires for a smoother ride is this landmark. |
My route to, hopefully, a campsite at Adams
Lake. |
The Deep Creek overlook - the eastern viewing
area. |

Out from the overlook, heading towards the
lake. |

The tall stick catches my eye - it's a
snowmobile trail marker. `wonder what the trails are like for winter
use. |
