First light on the mountain peaks

I was back to the Rover folks in the morning and with the jack he removed the two passenger side wheels / tires. I unloaded much of the jeep onto the parking lot next to their Rover - to make space for the wheels and him in the passenger seat. I left her with WiFi running. We made the hour drive up to Glenwood Springs and once close to town (we have cell coverage and we're driving slowly that the soft top isn't making much noise) he called for tires. Tire shop chosen we dropped them off and looked for a bite to eat.

The tires were changed in quick fashion and we headed back to Marble. Another guy/family in a pickup pulled in next to us at the parking lot and offered nice wood blocks and a 12T bottle jack - well appreciated and put to use. The Rover had two new tires on the front axle and used tires on the rear axle. I packed the jeep and left them with a running Rover and four good tires and headed to the quarry up the other side of the valley. The evening before the lady and I exchanged email as I asked if I could share a photo or two that they had of the flop on the trail. I hope to have a photo or two to share.

Back to Marble, departed from the Rover folks, I'm headed up to the quarry.

Heading up the quarry road.

Trash?

Looking back at the quarry road.

We're making a big jump - we're out of Marble, headed up CO-133 to Carbondate and turned east towards Independence Pass. We've passed through Aspen are starting up the pass.

The narrow sections are now stop-light controlled one-ways. The last I was here, I do not recall the traffic controls and oncoming traffic slowly navigated the narrow sections.

Odd to see telephone poles up here.

Avalanche zone & refuse.

Independence ghost-townsite - reason for the telephone poles?

Road cut up the mountainside.

Up on the moutntainside road cut looking back to where the prior photo was taken.

Costume ride?

Twin Lakes Colo has some event today.

The abandoned / long un-used rail line between Canyon City and Dotsero - perhaps the first mountain rail route through Colorado. While it has not been used in quite some time (quite weed overgrown in areas), the rails have not been removed - so maybe some promise it'll see life again.

Leadville Colo

Down from Leadville and traveling I-70 eastward. Sailboats on Dillon Reservoir.

Down near Dumont / Idaho Springs. Traffic is standstill for minutes on end.

Saying goodbye to the mountains and hello to the plains.
