Trail Cleanup - Barbour Fork and Devils Canyon

Trail cleanup day for the group's two sponsored trails - Barbour Fork
and Devil's Canyon. Trevor, Joe and I will be the cleanup crew. We'll
stay as a group and visit each trail. At the end of the cleanup, while
airing up on the Mount Evans road, three hikers asked if we could give
them a ride up to Echo Lake - their ride was awol. Their camp was over
near Guanella Pass and they hiked two 14'ers for a path over towards
Mount Evans. Each vehicle took a hiker up the road. I asked where they
were from as the guy with me had a bit of a Texas accent - Kansas was
home. Weather is quite warm so being up in the mountains (cooler) was nice. No top for me - I crossed my fingers on not getting drenched with rain. Later in the afternoon I put the winter coat on for a few minutes when heavier ran happened - but overall - rain was of no issue. The winter coat was used during the morning freeway drive (66F) and was removed when the mountain climb started. At the end of the day Trevor headed home while Joe and I enjoyed a nice meal at Mountain Prime in Idaho Springs. The bonus was having less traffic a bit later in the afternoon. |

| Instead of heading out from Barbour Fork, Trevor wished to re-vist the fallen tree to pull it back from the side of the trail. |
| Nicely pulled back. Someone prior to us had cut the tree. |

| This
is the "difficult" uphill at the central section of Devil's Canyon. The
trail has been widened at each spot with the ledge style rocks. Years
past, the trail was narrow which made going up/over the ledge rocks on
the left mandatory. |
