Coleman Classic Re-Charge 400 Lumen LED Lantern

I just purchased this Coleman Classic Re-Charge 400 Lumen LED Lantern
(Model / SKU 2155750). While the unit offers a three-year warranty, I'm
curious if the battery can be replaced. Was the unit "permanently"
welded together such that removing the battery would involve breaking a
sealed surface and damaging the unit? Fortunately, the unit is wonderfully accessible / serviceable. The clear globe twists off of the black top/base. Four Phillips screws allow the lamp assembly to separate from the black top/base exposing the battery and circuitry. It uses a popular 18650 battery. So, well after the first battery hits end-of-life, the lantern should hopefully be found in use at many campsites. |

sturdy) is conventional (right-hand) screw threaded onto the black top. It's easily removable for cleaning its inside as well as access to the four screws... |

wiggle-pull the chrome lamp assembly from the black base. |
| The battery sits in U-shaped holders - pull up
and out. All components are plug/receptacle connected (vs. solder connected). The battery can be easily unplugged and replaced (via purchase or at a battery store - re-using the leads with connector). Having an easily serviceable battery will add years of life capability to this lantern. Thanks Coleman for such a serviceable unit! |
